I am, for the first time, attempting Nanowrimo. It really shouldn't be my first time, but you know how lazy and disorganised I can be. But this year I will do it! I've just done my first thousand words. Don't know if any of them are any good - many of them may get cut out of the final edit - but they're there, at least. Now, just 49,000 to go. Wish me luck?

Is going to be on the 17th of October - a Saturday. This does unfortunately clash with Racheet's VNV birthday-gig, but alas every weekend clashed with something. Sorry! So. Bring a bottle, there will be some alcohol/sugar provided, but not that much as I am currently a bit skint. Crash space available for out of towners, you should totally come, first asked first served but Yggdrasil and Hellfire might possibly have sofa space for some of you too. We have moved.
Took ages, boxes were very heavy, thank you thank you thank you Jon, Jo and James for the help, you were invaluable.

The flat is lovely and big and full of boxes. And Dom's dad brought us a sofa and some tables and stuff.

Need to sort out internet and phone and electricity and council tax. And then find out how much they all come to and cry.

Also need to unpack - we have far too much stuff. Unpacking may possibly take some time.

But you should all totally come visit.

Thought I'd share.

Dom and I have a house. It's out in Blackbird leys. It's a little expensive, but all the places we'd seen were either tiny or out in Abingdon or somewhere, so we've ended up going for this one, just because we were getting nervous about how quickly time was passing, and viewing a house on Saturday, it had been claimed by Monday evening and someone else had also already called to take it after them. I haven't even seen it, but Dom assures me it's nice, and apparently the livingroom is huge and lovely, even if the bedroom is pink. Dom requested permission to repaint that.
So... moving at some point after Maelstrom, probably the twentysomethingth. And Dom is no longer with the Gloc as of tomorrow, and getting two weeks pay, which is more than Daxx got. So... yeah. The only other nice member of staff there, Sam, is leaving too, so the Gloc is not really going to be worth visiting, and the ales will be going downhill. Need to find a new pub. Dom would also like to invite people drinking on Sunday to celebrate - he finishes at 3. Not sure if it will be at the Gloc (for smugness, and £2 a pint) or not.

Very stressed right now.

At least Dom will have enough time at home in the next week or so to start packing, and we're allowed to bring the rats with us.

A little bald chinese guy just came in, looked around the shop for a bit and then came up to the counter and said 'You have women? For sex? Upstairs maybe?".
After I had confirmed that he actually was asking if I had any prostitutes for sale or rent, I must admit my normal high levels of friendly customer service may have been lacking.
I showed him a book listing 'massage parlours' in England (again, something I'd prefer not to have in stock at all) and after he asked if he could copy the number down, I said no, he had to buy it and then glared at him until he left.

The shop is a bit shit, I know, and I'm doing my best, but it's not that bad.

*grrr*


On the plus side, three gorgeous little ratties, who are starting to actually pay attention to us now and sniff our fingers and be generally cute. We've named them Halberd, Spear and Pauldron (to go with their various markings).

It's my birthday on Wednesday.
I'm going to go watch X-Men/Wolverine at 14.00 at Magdelen St cinema, which should finish at about 16.30ish.

My Dom is broken. He can't bend and any movement hurts and he is creaky as anything. I bought some deep heat and ibuprofen, but need to get him to a chiropracter ASAP, I think. Poor baby.

I finally found out why I get weird pains in my head just behind the ears when sweeping or hoovering - Dom pointed out that's where the neck muscles connect to the skull, so must be something about the particular stance and type of movement. Now to work out how to stop it. That had been vaguely confusing me for several years.

I had chocolate fudge cake for breakfast, and waffles with golden syrup. It was gooooood. On the downside, I really need to see a dentist at some point soonish.

The sky is blue and the weather is warm but not hot and there are flowers and trees and singing birds and general spring/summerishness.

I achieved substantial amount of tidying and unpacking. Still more to go, but that's not the point. I even did DIY shaped things - I put a desk together all by myself, with screws and everything. And a book case taller than I am. Though that's not hard.

Really need to do laundry.

Starting new job on Tuesday - apprehensive, as I don't trust the top guy, who is incompetent, but very hopeful. It's a risk, but I think the potential awesome outweighs the risks - especially as I'm hopefully getting an actual contract soonish. Plus it does pay a lot better than the cinema.

Confirmed that the rats are on reserve for us and we can get them as soon as we can sort getting this cage transported down. Yay!

I am happy.

Oh, and I got to hang out with anotherusedpage . Need to do this more often, for she is made of awesome and I don't see her enough.

Conclusions:

I have watched 7 fewer animated films than athenegenia , but significant overlap.
I think I might be imagining having seen the very early ones, because they're so deep in my cultural consciousness. I think I saw them.
I don't like anime much. Knew that. Though Howl's castle was good. Then again, originally written by a westerner.
Disney used to be better.
Lots of things almost deserving a strikethrough but not quite, as they were bad but not awful
Need to rewatch Jungle Book and Aladdin.

My brain was in a strange place last night. Well, it was at Hellfire, underneath a hugpile. Which was awesome, apart from getting home at 4am and being half dead at work. My Dom had stayed awake for me, to make sure I could get in, how sweet and lovely and awesome is that?

Anyway, random things that somehow managed to appear in my brain include Xenomorph Warrior Princess, complete with brown leather miniskirt and acid drool, and BoobAssTits, the Egyptian Goddess of, well, pussy.  And something about Schroedinger's T-rex, who has either seen you or hasn't and if he has you better run and if he hasn't you better not run, and both states exist at once and the only way to know is to see whether or not you get eaten...

Woooo! Got the job!

I am still slightly wary, as the manager is very fail and prone to confusion (example, he told me to call him today at 11.30ish as he was in a meeting before then, I called him at 12.30 and he said 'oh good, I'd just finished') but he said he actually intends to give me a contract.

Will be handing in my notice at the cinema today. Finally off of minimum wage....
